Top brand for costumes and dressing-up items
Rubie’s, the leading manufacturer of costumes and dressing-up items, was established in the United States in 1951. Up until now it has always been a family business, not listed in the Stock Exchange.
The company runs its own branches in the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Israel, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. However, its offer is available almost the whole world over thanks to local distribution deals. In China, the country which supplies a large amount of its products, Rubie’s has a sales unit at its disposal too.
“In Italy, where the domestic branch has been operating since 2014, the brand is well-known for its licensed dressing-up items: ours are in fact the original costumes of the whole Marvel universe, of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Warner, to name just a few”, says Barbara Bergonzoni, Managing Director at Rubie’s Italy. “For every single licence we offer a complete range as regards both price bands and age (from 0 to 99 years-old!)”.
Recently Rubie’s engaged in the search for sustainable materials and in the development of products addressing disabled people: “As concerns inclusiveness, since last year we started introducing a collection of dressing-up items for disabled children, those who must use a wheelchair in order to move around. The costumes of the Adaptive line can be worn while sitting and have openings in order to let drainages and tubes pass through”, Bergonzoni informs. “As concerns the protection of the environment, two years ago we began adopting various kinds of eco-friendly plastic-free packaging and this year we present a collection of 100 per cent recycled costumes: the packaging is made of recycled cardboard and the costume is made of recycled fibre“.
